Erling Haaland scored one minute into His Manchester City debut and it was the decisive goal when they Premier League champions edged out German champions Bayern Munich 1-0 in front of a sold-out audience in Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The game was interrupted by an interruption in the lightning just one minute following the Haaland goal. When the game was resumed 55 minutes later Haaland came back to play. He could have scored another goal, but due to a last-ditch slide strike by an Bayern center-back.
Bayern Munich were bothered by the Man City press and often had a difficult time getting away from their area. When they did manage to get into the game They were not able to exploit Robert Lewandowski’s ability to finish, and Serge Gnabry coming close on one slid effort, which was the most promising chance of the game for the German team, which obviously has work to do to recover from the loss of its star player to Barcelona.
Because of the weather delay the game was shortened to 40-minute periods and fans cheered as the final whistle blew after the clock had reached 80 minutes.
They will visit their home stadiums in preparation to fight in the hunt for silverware’s first trophy of the season on Saturday. Bayern will be competing with Man City for this year’s German Super Cup, while Man City will face Liverpool in The Community Shield.
