Manchester United’s most impressive pre-season performance was a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at the MCG, Melbourne, Australia, on Tuesday.

Erik ten Hag’s attacking trio of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford scored as Erik ten Hag’s side was thrilled moving forward, even though they were shaky defensively.

Cam Smith, the mullet, went from a beer-swilling lazy larrikin into the cashed up bogan king golf. Read more about this story starting July 18, 2022.

Martial, whose United career looked in doubt after being loaned out to Sevilla last year, opened the scoring with a fantastic finish after a lovely cross from Diego Dalot.

Although Palace had a few half-chances at the break, United was dominant in the second half, but they didn’t score the second goal until the end of the match.

United scored a fantastic team goal that saw Rshford sidefooat into an empty net following the complete destruction of Palace’s defence by Donny van der Beek, Martial, and Sancho.

It was three minutes later when Martial beat Sancho through on goal. The English winger finished clinically after dummying with the goalkeeper.

After the teams had changed the majority of their players, Palace became more involved in the match. Joel Ward scored a consolation goal for Patrick Vieira’s side, while Will Fish, defender, was sent off for United.

Is Anthony Martial still around?

Martial’s United career looked bleak after he was loaned out to Sevilla. He struggled to make an impact.

The talented French attacker seems to be enjoying a new lease on life under Ten Hag. His attacking style of play seems to suit him.

Martial scored in all three United preseason matches, with the 26-year old thriving in an attack that includes full-backs as well as central midfielders.

It will be fascinating to see how Martial is integrated at United. Cristiano Ronaldo remains in the Old Trafford picture despite rumours that he may leave.

Ten Hag sent Luke Shaw a message

Ten Hag selected what seemed to be his best XI, with all the players available. It was fascinating to see Tyrell Malacia chosen at left-back.

The 22-year old Dutchman displayed another outstanding performance, appearing both defensively and attacking.

Malacia showed his talent with a great pass to Dalot, a fellow fullback, to help set up the first goal.

With Alex Telles and Luke Shaw also competing for United’s left-back position, it’s going be a difficult fight.
