Ex-Red Wings Forward Ryan Arrested In Nashville

 

A former Detroit Red Wings forward Bobby Ryan, who was awarded the Masterton Trophy in 2020 after having overcome substance abuse issues before being able to return to the NHL and has apparently suffered the return to addiction.

Ryan was a player for his 2020-21 NHL season with the Red Wings, was incarcerated on Monday in the Nashville jail. The police eventually placed him in jail for public intoxication at Nashville International Airport.

According to the report by ScoopNashville.com, Ryan was seen buying a variety of items from an airport shop without making a purchase. Airport police were notified of thisand began looking for Ryan. In abandoning the stolen items at a counter, Ryan was able to enter Little Harpeth Brewing with the police following him. Ryan was found in the bar, waiting for the drink he’d ordered.

As per the investigation report Ryan had been suffering the consequences of severe intoxication. Ryan was not able to cooperate with police officers. In the course of questioning, he could not inform the officers of the date, time of the day or even the location they were. He also had a hard time standing on his own.

The store decided not to file for charges Ryan took him into police custody on suspicion of public intoxication. After the usual eight-hour hold for public intoxication police granted Ryanhis release and he was released, removing any charges.

Ryan Spent Time In NHL Substance Abuse Program

In November of 2019 , when Ryan had been playing with Ottawa Senators. Ottawa Senators, Ryan was considering joining the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program in light of issues with alcohol consumption.

Ryan made his return to the arena on February. 25 20th, 2020, and it was at Nashville in a game against the Predators. In his first game at home in Nashville, Ryan scored a hat three. September of 2020 was the month of his presentation of the Masterton Trophy to him as the player who best exhibits the traits of endurance, sportsmanship, and commitment to hockey.

Detroit was able to offer an invitation to a professional tryout to training camp during the season. But, as the preseason was coming to an end season NHL preseason the Red Wings were giving Ryan his release.
