  • Bayern Munich definitely looked like the side with the least points during this match. Manchester City were superior in every aspect of the game but their dominance didn’t translate into goals. Julian Nagelsmann needs to revisit the drawing board as his team was clearly not the best.
  • Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane are two of the worst performance that all Bayern player. Kimmich made a number of mistakes and was unable to get in the press. Sane while playing in an awkward spot that was slightly more central towards the left wing and was unable to exert any effect on how the team played. If they play as they did during the regular campaign, Nagelsmann may have to remove the players.
  • There were some positives — the new arrivals Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui were both impressive after being substituted as Jamal Musiala showed why he’s still one of the best young players around. Their ability to play against Guardiola’s pressure was perhaps the main aspect. The youngsters demonstrated to the veterans how they can do it in this regard.
  • The officiating was shoddy. If it wasn’t for the referee Bayern could have taken an advantage from this game.
  • Julian Nagelsmann must be thrown out of the back three. Kingsley Coman cannot play as an wingback and is not being used as a bench player. A second winger or a midfielder could have been a big help in helping Bayern get into the game. City at the end of the period when the team was struggling to get opportunities.

Full time: Bayern Munich 0-1 Manchester City.

1 hour before kickofftime: There are lineups! Julian Nagelsmann chooses to start with a strong squad comprised of the majority of his primary players. Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, and Kingsley Coman start up top for Bayern Munich, while the midfield is occupied with Joshua Kimmich and Marcel Sabitzer. Benjamin Pavard and Alphonso Davies play in the middle back position while Matthijs de Ligt is curiously absent. Actually, all of these new players have been absent today.

It looks like Nags would like his players to play in the first half at the very least.

It’s barely begun, but preseason has already begun to slow down, and not without at least one other big game scheduled for the calendar. Bayern Munich take on Manchester City at Lambeau Field in Wisconsin in an event that will give us an idea of how both teams are evolving to prepare for the season ahead.

Since each of Bayern and City have their local supercup games within just a week’s time each team should be roughly at the same level of preparation. However, Julian Nagelsmann will miss key players such as Leon Goretzka (injury) and Sadio Mane (in Germany) for the game and Pep Guardiola will be hoping to showcase his new acquisition at Erling Haaland.

As they prepare for the game majority of people will have these concerns:

  • Are there any chances for Bayern Munich score without Robert Lewandowski?
  • Can Bayern’s midfield hold their itself up against the Man City press?
  • Can Bayern’s defense maintain the score clean? (Probably not)

For the answerwe’ll be watching and finding out.
